To make a big impact with even a partially decorated tree, try hanging a few decorations with essential oil diffusers. After all, who doesn’t like a clean aroma in the dead of winter?
Using cookie cutters and some green paint, we transformed ours into unique artificial Christmas trees last year, and we couldn’t be happier with the results or the festive air they fill.
Supplies Needed
- There should be 4 cups of all-purpose flour.
- 1 pound salt
- Approximately 1 1/2 cups of hot water
- The use of a straw for drinking
- There is a green paintbrush and green paint.
- Flower wire in a green color
- Oil of vital importance (you can use pine or Idaho blue spruce)
1. The first step is to create your own diffuser ornaments.
- Make dough by combining flour, salt, and water.
- Use cookie cutters to stamp out shapes.
- Use a paintbrush and color in the ornaments while they are still wet for the best results. We painted our trees to make them look more interesting.
- Spread out on a baking sheet and dry at room temperature for a few days, turning once a day.
- Let air dry thoroughly.
2. Toss in some essential oils for a holiday aroma,
These homemade salt dough decorations work wonderfully as a diffuser, releasing the crisp, clean aroma of pine throughout the room.
We love how the pine essential oil smells like Idaho Blue Spruce, and these ornaments are great for diffusing the smell throughout your home. We always recommend using 100% essential oils anytime you are going to be exposed to them on a regular basis because the artificial scents that are often added to low quality oils can have a sharp stronger smell that is unpleasant.
Blends like Christmas Spirit, 3 Wise Men, and Thieves from Young Living are perfect for decorating the house for the holidays.
You may also mix it up by yourself with some essential oils like cinnamon, clove, and lemon.
3. Attach Wire for Tree Hanging
Hang them from the tree using a wire or a ribbon.
Gift Ornaments You Can Make Yourself Using Diffusers
These are beautiful holiday presents, especially when paired with a bottle of the giver’s preferred essential oil fragrance.
We prefer to stack ornaments of the same shape, wrap them in holiday ribbon, and then tie the bottle of essential oil to the bow.
Can you use your Diffuser Ornament Over and Over Again?
Depending on how much essential oil you put into the ornament’s diffuser, the aroma can linger for days. That can preserve the authentic scent of your artificial Christmas tree for several days.
Adding a couple additional drops of essential oil to an ornament is all it takes to give an artificial Christmas tree a new burst of fragrance that will last for several more days.
Especially considering how simple they are to prepare. You’ll want to make these for every holiday after the first! These pine-scented decorations can be used year after year with just a few drops of new essential oil.
